This blog is a personal muse designed with a simple purpose in mind. Learned Curiosity serves as a reminder that our quality of life improves exponentially in relation to the degree of interest we have in our surroundings. I spent adolescence and early adulthood on a linear path. A self-imposed road to “success.” Years passed in pursuit of goals and objectives associated with “success.” This journey was void of curiosity in any subject off the path to the next objective. I chose not to ask “why” or “how” often enough. I specialized in certain skills, and made a career using these skills.
As I approached thirty my exposure to different ways of thinking via books and chance encounters began to fracture my path. Suddenly, within the span of less than a year, my definition of success changed. With this change came the realization life offers other avenues for joy if I embrace curiosity. Curiosity comes naturally to children and many adults. I, for some reason, did not have a natural curiosity. My focus overwhelmed my curiosity. I had to learn how to be curious. I have no regrets for this time, and I am who I am as a result. However, moving forward my approach to life is to ask questions based on curiosity in the world around me. This blog is a testament to the fun and interesting subjects associated with my newly learned curiosity.
